Billions of years from now, our Sun's output is increasing, making the Earth uninhabitable.
The future inhabitants of Earth decide to build generation ships in order to find and colonize new home world.
At sublight speeds it will take centuries to reach the nearest star systems with habitable planets. The generation ships are designed to be self-contained ecosystems that must endure until they reach their destinations.
Goal
Your goal is to sustain a viable population and ecology that will be able to colonize the planet.
Place tiles on the grid to build the generation ship's resources. Maximize the ship's population and ecosystem until there are no more tiles in the deck. If the ship's population drops to zero, that is game over.
About
This is a sequel/remake to a game I released on itch a few years ago, https://kgmpers.itch.io/generation-ship. For this version I wanted to make some code style, organization, and testing improvements, which would also allow me to more easily add more gameplay features.
The game is in active development, and you can follow my Bluesky account for updates @andrewlaskey.bsky.social. I'll be deploying stable releases here to itch.io, but the latest changes will be up on github at https://andrewlaskey.github.io/generation-ship-2/.
AI disclosure: I have been using first ChatGPT and currently Claude as a code assistant, especially to get up to speed on the GSAP and three.js libraries.
